Our Mission

The Health Capitol brings people together to improve the health and wellbeing of Coloradans

Colorado’s Health Capitol is a home to non-profit organizations who elevate the well-being of people in our state, and serves as a beacon to attract needed attention to Colorado’s health. We collaborate and leverage collective resources that strengthen each organization’s ability to accomplish their respective missions. Together, we make an even bigger impact on improving mental, physical, social and economic health in communities across Colorado. We are Colorado’s first and only shared space with this mission-driven focus. Health impacts everyone. Health does not have a political affiliation or denomination. Colorado’s Health Capitol aims to be home to diverse health leaders, literally breaking down walls and silos to act as the center of health policy in Colorado.

Land Acknowledgment: The Colorado Health Capitol acknowledges that our office occupies the ancestral home of the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribe and land historically inhabited by the Cheyenne, Arapahoes, and Ute people, as laid out by the 1951 Treaty of Fort Laramie.

Vision & Direction

Healthier Colorado spent its formative years leasing office space inside the Alliance Center, an innovative space for nonprofits in the sustainability field. During an informal conversation amongst staff, we began to wonder why there wasn’t a space like this for nonprofits in the field of health and wellbeing. Thus the idea for Colorado’s Health Capitol was born. After conversations with organizational partners indicated strong interest, we contracted with the Nonprofit Centers Network (a shared space consultancy) and began the formal process of forming a cohort that would help us make this dream become a reality.

We have actualized our vision into the one of a kind space you see today. The Health Capitol is modern, flexible, collaborative and adds value to the organizations that call it home while empowering them to better serve their diverse communities. The collaboration within these walls produces positive impact that stretches from the Eastern Plains to the Western Slope and beyond.

Who Do We Serve

At the Health Capitol, we aim to serve Coloradans across the state and improve health outcomes through purposeful collaboration. We recognize the value in differences of opinions, ideas, and backgrounds. We celebrate the fact that each organization and individual brings unique experiences and we strive to learn and grow with each other. Harnessing the collective power and perspective of each organization, we can better serve the diverse communities and their unique challenges to living a healthy life.
